1883-1945 A.D., Steel blade, ray skin grip and scabbard covering, brass/gilt mounts with chrysanthemum motifs, leather-covered scabbard, Imperial Japan.

This dirk served as a ceremonial dress sidearm for Imperial Naval officers, worn as part of the formal uniform to denote rank and authority.
